I feel like I should make an entry for some reason. I keep searching my brain for college wisdom...but I kind can't find much. College is pretty straight forward, and I think I already had a lot of life skills before I came here. I did teach someone to do laundry in the beginning of the year..but other than that the main thing I can offer you is LEARN TO WRITE. If you only learn one thing in high school LEARN TO WRITE. Go out and buy yourself the MLA Handbook. It will be your friend. If you do this college will be so much easier. I know people who just never learned to write a paper of any kind. My roommate told me that she has never written a research paper before. It pretty much sucked for her when she was assigned a 10 page research paper on some war. For the love of GPA, LEARN TO WRITE.
Anyway, speaking of roommates... My roommate like to go to bed at 11. She also likes to get up early. Around 11 I am just starting whatever it is I have to do so we kind of have a problem. I really don't like reading in the dark, she doesn't like any lights on when she sleeps. Crazy, no? So we developed the Study Cave. Basically we lowered my bed so it is about 5 feet off the ground, then pushed my desk(that has a back)up against it forming a "cave". I put some pillows and a lamp in there, then blocked off the doorway with a sheet so the light wouldn't come through. It is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like I am playing fort. I think I deserve some sort of good roommate award for actually agreeing to a study cave instead of just saying " Too bad. I'm going to study with the lights on." Anyway, everybody I explain this to thinks I'm crazy.
