I guess it was a good thing I take A company more in humor than get peeved or depressed, cause something interesting is happening. I don't exactly condone the chain of command breaking down into an "us vs them" mentality, it's slowly improving (as higher ranks start telling them to do what they're supposed to), but the cool part is it's making the lower ranks slowly bond.. We have one thing in common.. crush... yiff... destroy those bastards, lol.
I have duty today, apparently I took it for a Sergeant and they didn't tell me really until a day or two ago. No surprise since all of the Sergeant's duties seem to mysterious be getting swapped with troops, lol. It's just funny cause instead of working we spent the first two hours of work yesterday printing out orders on duty and punishment in the military (hard evidence that what the Sergeants are doing is illegal), it felt righteous. :)
And then I wandered off and changed the oil in 15 of those vehicles :)
I'm a little depressed I can't go to the Christmas party. I think it's really ironic though that it's supposed to bring the unit together and give the young unmarried Marines with no home (like me) something close to a "real holiday" But.. like.. half of us are on working parties *for* the Christmas party, lol. Still, if I wasn't on duty, they're giving out presents for it and I really had my eyes set on a *HUGE* doggy plush, it was as big as a cougar and twice as fluffy!
(one more note: I had duty on Thanksgiving, duty at the Christmas party, and I have duty Christmas eve, I've got this running joke that someone really doesn't want me to have a holiday, lol)
And on the plus side, my favorite Sergeant (one of the old school crew back in Battallion Maintenance) will be the OOD, and with everybody at the party, hopefully that'll mean a peaceful duty..
See you all later.
*PS- for anybody who wants a followup, I really to like my new roommate. He acts like a tweaker and I act like a junkie, it's like we balance each other out, lol..
