Pee.

So, women can learn to pee standing up. Which would be really handy, but potentially messy, if you couldn't get a good stream going.

Luckily, there are also assistive devices. Some are disposable, some are not.

Urinelle - A paper cone you can use, then toss in the toilet. It looks to me like you'd have to drop your drawers to use it. There's a ( Read more... )

I've not used any devices, but I've read the "pee standing up" instructions before and I spent some time trying, back in my butch era. Never could get it right.

Meanwhile, both my current and my last male partner pee sitting down, feeling that it's much cleaner and more civilized. I have to say, I have noticed a big difference. When men pee standing, there's a lot of mess. You don't always notice it at first, but your toilet is *much* stinkier and cleaning the bathroom is much ickier.

IMO, we're going at it the wrong way round. It's not about teaching women to pee standing, it's about teaching men to pee sitting.

It's not about teaching women to pee standing, it's about teaching men to pee sitting.

But this isn't something to use at home -- it's for scummy public restrooms or icky portable toilets or no toilet at all.

Not that that invalidates your point about men peeing more cleanly. :)

I dunno, maybe I'm just not squeamish about that kind of thing. I will sometimes hover/squat if the situation's really bad. I can see your point, though.

But would you really carry a little plastic tube around with you everywhere just in case you needed to pee in a public restroom?

I've carried a funnel (special made for above situations;not the random kitchen funnel *g*) while hiking. I've never used it because I sometimes under-hydrate when I'm being stupid and young in order not to use it, but I can definitely see where it'd come in handy. If you are hiking on a trail above the tree line and the trail is well traveled and there is no where to pee except off the side of the mountain and option to avoid dropping and squatting is very, very welcome.

So it's not that I'm not squeamish, it's that I'm not outdoorsy. (:

all my friends (and family) in germany have "trained" their guys to sit down...there are often little obnoxious joky rhymes and cartoons in the bathrooms to enforce it.

i agree on it making it easier to clean (esp. when you have two uncircumcised boys who're not too good at pointing yet :-), but i'd still feel weird to demand if he doesn't like it...

Oh, I don't know why. It's not like men don't demand anything of us...
