Nothing new under the sun
So tonight, I've been watching the Dark Knight movie with Mr. Moonbeam. He saw it in the theatre with our friends B. and J. and has been waxing poetic about it ever since.
And it's good! Poor Heath Ledger. I can see how that role would push an unbalanced person over the edge -- having been far too into a role myself, and having seen my best friend do it too and change her whole life (to this day I'm not sure if she shouldn't have married that guy). I really do feel sorry for the boy, though, which I usually don't for suicides. :(
One thing I've been thinking the whole time is -- holy HELL have I just been writing English Batman with red hair? Because Christian Bale's Batman is so totally Uther. I would get upset about it, if Byronic heroes weren't all cast from the same mold. I knew from the start that Uther wasn't original; I just didn't expect to see him so clearly in a modern portrayal.
And Christian Bale wins, btw.
I still haven't finished the movie; Mr. Moonbeam went to bed because he had to take so much pain medication, and right now Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman <3 YAY) is being a badass.
And I personally am going to smoke and then watch Doctor Who, or maybe Torchwood, or maybe Voyager, who knows where my whims will take me. Because I can, and because I'm off tomorrow and can drink like a fish.
