internship!!!
soo.... i'm currently sitting in a little internet cafe in Yachats, Oregon... which is right on the coast. went to the beach....... one of those 'high energy' beaches dr laursen talked about, with craggy rocks everywhere and really powerful waves... got some AWESOME pictures! we're taking a day off before starting to set up the stations here. then we'll move on to mt baker national forest (after leaving two interns here) to set up the stations there... leave two interns there, and move on to wenatchee national forest to set that up and where i'm stationed for the summer. it's in central washington, in case anybody was wondering. training went well, and i am now proficient at banding even the most recalcitrant of small birds. the woodpeckers and grosbeaks are the worst... i still have scars from where i got attacked by two very very bitey grosbeaks in the same day.... my poor fingers will never be the same. i think i'm a bit sun-burned, but nothing too bad. the beach was totally worth it... even if the water was FREAKING FREEZING. i think that's about it...... i'll post some pics on facebook, if you wanna see what i'm doing!!!
