So this year's election coverage has been disappointing. my MP has been re-elected back in, but the Conservatives are sitting at a very high minority government. i wanted them out completely

okay, see here's the thing with us. Harper can only call an election under a few conditions. as a majority it's after three years and before 5 he can call it. but he's a minority. so he can only call when they lose a confidence motion or the house loses confidence in government. This didn't happen.
Furthermore, Harper dissolved government when polls showed he could achieve a majority. so they could still govern, and the house still had confidence in the government, but he called one when it was advantageous to him. with a minority government that's illegal. it's being challenged and being brought to court. as i said though by the time anything's done though this government will be come and gone.
And Dion was a terrible choice for party leader. We knew this when he won and a lot of it will be blamed on Kennedy for throwing his support behind him during the last leadership convention. I'm hoping Ignatieff throws his name in the hat again because he's spectacular and not afraid to ask the hard questions or make a statement, as controversial as it might be because he has the data to back it up!
