I'M FINISHED! IT'S TWO DAYS LATE, BUT IT'S FINISHED!
DeMaster Blaster -November-
As the year progresses, on top of starting up those projects and getting used to tests and quizzes, we start thinking about our missions as well. Crystal Cathedral Academy and Highschool has missions to give the students chances to do all kinds of community service and let them have different opportunities and experiences through them. Who knows, maybe the mission you did in 8th grade was so enjoyable you would consider the possibility of working something that has to do with that. Even if you don’t think of doing it as your life work, it’s never a bad thing to volunteer to the community. Why not start now?
The Middle School is mostly working on fundraising money for organizations. The 6th grade is raising money to give to an organization that is rebuilding Peru from its huge earthquake in the summer. The 7th and 8th grade are raising money for Grace Christian Home by doing a walk-a-thon. The High School is doing their mission as a whole group, not as individual classes. On November 9th, the Highschool is planning a walk-a-thon as well for Yesenia Lopez Sanchez. Yesenia is an orphan from Grace Christian Home in Tijuana, Mexico that we are funding for her schooling, which is $2500. How did we choose the girl? In August, Mr. DeMaster went to Grace Christian Home to give out the backpacks we donated last year. The director of the Grace Christian Home was a friend and there were 4 children that needed to be funded for education, and Yesenia just happened to be the first child that came. We promised to support her education, and we hope that we can reach the quota with the help of all the students.
The High School is also helping out at the packing and sending of Operation Christmas Child boxes in November. They are also planning to help out with the Special Games at Cal. State Fullerton around May. Some of the students are also taking trips to Mexico with teachers to give a hand at the construction at the Grace Christian Home. We also try to share with the kids what we learn in school by teaching them to do all kinds of variety of things, like art, science, drama, music, and religion.
The school encourages to volunteer in your own time as well. If you’re having trouble finding a place where you can volunteer, it might be good to check the police station. It always has a list of people who need help with small chores, especially for old people in the neighborhood. Another good place to check is the church. You can always help out with the services at your church or even help teach the Sunday school. If you’re good with kids, maybe it’ll be a good idea to help out in the nursery. Also, the hospitals and libraries are great places to check. Almost any public place has a information on where you can volunteer. It’s best if you volunteer in something you’re actually interested in. If you like kids, why not help out at a nursery or the kid’s section at the library? If you’re interested in animals, go to the animal shelter. Go out and use those skills God gave us to help other people. Not only are you able to be some use to other people, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to share the love and God.
