Had to meet a client at Outback Steakhouse for a discussion over the drafting of a screenplay (can't say more than that about it- top secret, etc.) yesterday evening and while it was pleasant, I couldn't help but shake the suspicion that she'd mistaken me for a Bruce (An Aussie, eh?). The confusion is understandable but what really got me was-
SHRIMP ON THE BARBIE.
Now mates, the steak's alright and some of these American joints are pretty choice but-
Really? 'Shrimp' on the Barbie? If y'want a real Aussie experience, you want PRAWN ON THE BARBIE. PRAWN. And where's the vegemite? Y'can't be doing it right if there isn't any vegemite.
Damn, I miss a good boil up meal...kumura, pork, dumplings, potatoes. Just like mum used to make...
I miss Auckland at times. I miss London...Where does a bloke have to go to get a decent platter of banger and mash, eh?
Ha... enough of that whingeing. If anyone knows where I can find some good Pakeha that'd be British and or European, mates cuisine, please LET ME KNOW. I'm craving it something fierce.
((Ooc edit: What ho~! More facts ahoy~
