My mum once said that the measure of a man is not in his girth or his wit but in his heart.

And then, she grew quiet. She watched the sun set over the harbor. She turned to me, but a lad, and she told me this.

'Your heart will be the ruin of us all.'

She had told me many times before when I was growing, that I loved too much. Loved too many. Loved too fiercely.

Loved too easily.

She said, another time, that I was just like my father.
Just like dad.

'You'll take everything away someday. You'll take the freedom of your muse, you'll take the foundation from your mates, you'll take the lover right out of their beau's arms and Lord help me, you'll take a life someday Iorangi John Paul.'

I'm beginning to suspect she's right. I've done something terrible. Still doing it. But I can't stop myself. Not now. The worst part is.

No one suspects I've done it. The camera's probably still rolling...
