On our genetics problem set, I interpreted a probability question differently from my groupmates, leaving me with a different answer. What ticked me off was how the science majors in my group ganged up on me. One of them said it was in "Mendelian language" (as though the rules of English grammar were waived for Mendel) so I was interpreting the question all wrong. Maybe I was being an oversensitive psych major, but the condescension was grating.
This is particularly sore for me because I resent being corrected for my skills in English (in UP Manila where English is, almost by definition, atrocious) and very elementary probability (Itong stat part lang talaga ang link ng kwentong ito sa comic strip na pinost ko.).
While reviewing for our genetics exam (which I will take in 7 hours), I stumbled on a powerpoint slide from our prof's lecture with the answer. Apparently, I was right all along. Up yours, you science majors.
