[OOC: Link is an actual picture pasted into the journal, I just don't want to take up space in the flist]

I....can't believe I'm saying this but- I think people need to stop sending me hats. When I was younger I didn't have the money to collect anything else but hats and I learned really quickly that if you play the Hollywood circle and you happen ( Read more... )

I thought you might have liked it, though I'm sure you get much better gifts from them.

Oh, no, chere. Designers rarely send things to each other. Bad form, you know, rather like flaunting your work. We'd much rather put them on pretty little celebrities to wear for us.

Is that how it works? And do you believe that fashion is a sort of art?

Most of the time, sweetpea, yes. The best way to get your name known outside the runway is generally for an actress to wear one of your designs down the red carpet. And of course I do, honey, why?

Which makes me wonder why they'd want me to wear the hat at all since I'm certainly no actor or actress for that matter.

Oh, I've always just sort of felt the same way. At least with hats. And suits. There's nothing like a good suit.

Darlin, you're a television personality. I certainly think that counts.

Suits, really? My goodness, honey, what can you mean?

That's very kind of you to say.

Well, if you compare Sinatra suits to Cary Grant suits it's almost like you're comparing Monet and Renoir. Don't you think? There's also something very empowering about wearing the right kind of suit at the right time.

Well, if you want to get technical, chere, that would be rather comparing the men behind the suit. But if you take a Zac Posen and, oh, a Donna Karan, we might have more to discuss.

You understand my meaning, though. And I'd likely pick Zac over Donna. But, only because I've known him for much longer and he's not as much of a brat as people make him out to be. Karan however, designed the frames for two sets of glasses that I own.

Of course, honey, of course. I would never really call Zac a brat, but, then again, I'm a bit of a bitch, so it's really difficult to compare. I wasn't aware she designed frames on commission!

I wouldn't really call you that. And no, she didn't make them especially for me in the least, I simply purchased them since she's one of the few who keeps the frames thick enough to look like something Elvis Costello would wear. Though, maybe I should start telling people that I'd like her to make glasses for me. Word of mouth does wonders in my business and in yours.

Well, thank you, honey! But you have to be a bit of a bitch to accomplish anything in this industry. Would you like me to put a word in at my next show, chere? She's been known to randomly send things off.

I understand. You have to be sort of a lunatic to accomplish anything in mine. Would you really? I'd appreciate that very much.
