There's no lack of books, but it's fairly obvious he's not looking for some light reading. He thumbs through a ratty-looking old science book, frowns a little at it, replaces it on the shelf. Pulls out a few more, flips through them, occasionally puts one into a pile by his feet. Research material, maybe?
