nice weekend

I had my kids this weekend, which was an awesome change from being on call last weekend. We didn't really do anything special. Grocery shopped yesterday. I bought them yo-yo's, which they fooled around with throughout today. We also bought two dress shirts for me. One of the men's stores was having a 50% off sale yesterday. So I got an $80 shirt for $40, and then a shirt that was on clearance and marked down again for $15, making the trip well worth the effort right there.

Today we walked down to the park twice, once before and then after lunch. Between shooting baskets and pushing them on the swings, my arms were like lead when we got back. I crashed for a nap for a little over an hour, and they were nice and behaved enough to let me. I was then able to iron a half-dozen shirts this evening--including my new ones. The $15 shirt is a red plaid, which Elyssia picked out for me. I couldn't tell you the last time I owned a plaid shirt, let alone wore one. But I'm going to wear it to work tomorrow, then over to the house so she can see that I have worn it. It is at least something close to what I would have picked, as it's a warm brick-red.

I suppose I should say something about Friday. I mentioned it briefly on my Facebook page. We took Elyssia to Dartmouth Hospital so see a specialist. I thought we were going to an appointment with a neurologist, but it was another opthamologist. It was ok, in that the Dr. didn't label Elyssia with anything specific (yet), and did (finally) tell us that the MRI was clean. I came out and asked her if MS (Multiple sclerosis) was still a consideration, but the Dr. said from what she saw today, that no, it was not. That was a huge relief, as MS does run in my family. They took more pics of the inside of her eye, and we have a follow-up in 3 months.
