Ok, so the first thing When I walk in on Monday, everyone tells me the guy running the show is a spaz. The store Manager Rob & the Assist. Manager Mike, both come up to me, shaking thier heads and tell me what a moron he is. I drove down Monday AM, through a mini blizzard. It took me 1 hour to drive from Adams to Parish, we all know how that is. So, I arrived at the store about 11, little later then I wanted. Apparently, though I did not make a good impression. Seems people from San Diego, CA really don't have a concept of 'Lake Effect'. When I explained it had been snowing pretty hard, John said that he had been in a 'Bad' snow storm once and they had (at this point, he puts out his thumb and pointer finger, on one hand) 'an incredible amount of snow!' I think his fingers were about 4-5 inches apart. I said, yeah, we got that last night in the first hour, this morning it was up to here and I put my hand above my knee. Crackhead!
So, Tuesday, we starting making the store look new. We bust our asses, I mean really trying to get it done. There are so many sections we are suppose to have done each day. Monday night we were 4 sections behind. Tuesday & Wednesday night we were still 4 sections behind. So John, in his infinate wisdom, decides that we should come into work at 8am on Thursday. Take some really tired people and make them work longer hours. Thursday night we were 6 sections behind. Let me add here that John does his share. He is hands on person, right beside us breaking his back. Thursday night he was just as crushed as we were. So Friday we were back in at 9am.
Couple of other odd notes. We transfered about 20 pallets of merchandise out of this store. Old BUS merchandise, discontinued stuff, etc. So the store was missing alot of product. Part of what we had to transfer was 5 pallets to the Clearance store, down in FL. However, it doesnt ship until March 1. So there are 5 pallets still sitting in the stock room and that is all the room there was, it is packed from back to front, with 2 small paths along the edges. Thursday morning the store gets its weekly truck, but there is no place to put it in the back, so they have to stage it at the front of the store. they recieved 12 freaking pallets!!! This time of year most stores get 2, sometimes 2 1/2. Such a mess!!
My new roomie, Cally, is from North of Toronto. She is about 22 and a cute kid. She has only been working for the company a couple of months. After she graduated from high school, she decided that she wasnt ready to go to university, so she took the money she had saved and went to New Zealand for a year. She bummed around, working odd jobs when she needed extra pocket money, but mostly just had fun. She said she was so glad to be home, for about 4 months and then she started feeling trapped again. Shes not sure what she wants, but it isnt at home. I told her if she ever wanted to travel to China to let me know & I would put her in touch with Aub, to get the insider info.
Well, I head back again Tuesday am, but this is suppose to be the last week. Not sure how much we will get done, but there are suppose to be a few more people then last week.
I had a wedding yesterday down in Baldwinsville. The roads, of course, sucked. Going down and coming home. It was a small wedding, maybe only 60 guests. But it was a full Catholic wedding. Jen was up in the balcony, shooting during the wedding and then I had her do candids during the reception. She is turning into a really good photographer. Great eye, she has always had that, but she is becoming less shy about getting the shot. I am really lucky that I have been able to work with my daughters. They are both very talented photographers, while they have similar tastes, it is kinda interesting to see how they express it differently with a camera. But, I will reiterate, I am VERY lucky that I have been able to share this with my girls, it really makes me happy.
Have to go to work, am at the Watertown store today & tomorrow
Happy Birthday Miss Alyssa (2/27/03)!!!!!!!!!!!XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
