The NEWTs didn't matter except in that it was the final piece I needed to be accepted as an Auror for the Ministry. Today was the first day for the 'new recruits'. Dorcas and I had to get to the ministry by 8 am sharp, but then they proceeded to keep us waiting for half an hour before moving us from one room to another.
When they finally decided they liked where we were settled, the great fun of filling out paperwork began. I don't know what the application was like for the Auror Summer program, but I know the questionare for the full program was twenty pages long. Someone obviously read it, since they had a follow up questionaire that was twice as long and asked detailed questions about everything I had written on my application.
That was just the first thing we had to do. The rest of the day was filling out payroll forms, and benefit forms and the like. The benefits I mostly knew about from listening to Grandfather, but I didn't realize quite how much money the Ministry was prepared to spend on medical treatment and death benefits.
I also had the distinct pleasure of writing out my Last Will and Testament. Sorry Fabian, I left some of my money to Emmeline. But you are getting my ill-mannered chess set. And the pastel set is definately yours.
We also got examined by Mediwizards for identifying marks and had our wand's magical signatures recorded in the event that it was necessary. Rather a morbid day overall. Tomorrow is the first day we meet with Moody and begin actual training exercises.
