It had been almost a month since Blaine and Kurt had transferred and apart from the quick kisses and fumbles in the janitors closet, Kurt and Blaine had kept their relationship secret from the rest of the school apart from New Directions knew. Blaine had been hesitant at first, when Kurt begged him to stay in the ‘closet’ but he also knew coming out would have a negative impact on Kurt, and the bullying would get worse.
Blaine joined the football team, trying out for kicker since he was the smallest and Kurt could coach him in some of the techniques he had used. He was an instant hit with the guys, invited out every weekend to parties, raves and game nights, regardless of the fact that he declined virtually all of them so he could hang out with his boyfriend.
Kurt sighed, picking at his salad as he watched Blaine sit with the Jocks across the cafeteria. He was regretting saying yet when Blaine had asked him if he minded.
“Hey,” He heard Rachel saying from the side. He ignored her until she poked him with a skinny finger.
“Hmm?”
“What’s Blaine doing over there? He’s your Boyfriend, right?” Kurt glanced at her, keeping his face blank. “Kurt?” Rachel was frowning at him, her finger hovering like she wanted to poke him again.
“Rachel!” Kurt slapped her hand away with the scowl, “I told him its alright, besides, if he’s friends with them, he’s safe, right?” he looked at Blaine again and forced a smile onto his face when he saw Blaine watching him. Blaine grinned back and turned to talk to Azimo.
Rachel just looked at him, silent.
Growling in frustration, Kurt stood, carrying his tray to the bin, before leaving and heading for his locker. He heard footsteps behind him as he walked, but before he could turn to see who it was he was yanked sideways into the locker room and shoved against the wall. He gave a yelp of fear as he met Karofsky’s eyes.
“All. Azimo. Talks about. Is. Blaine.” he growled. Kurt blinked, confusion pooling In his chest.
“Maybe he’s as gay as you,” Kurt quipped with a raised eyebrow, trying to shove Karofsky’s sweaty palms off of his shoulder. “Get off!” he scrambled against the wall for a second before giving up and glaring up at the bully.
“I want you to get Blaine to come out,” Karofsky ordered, pressing against Kurt‘s shoulders, “I know he’s your fag boyfriend, and if Azimo knew he wouldn’t be half as chummy,”
“No way,” Kurt shook his head, “I do that and Blaine gets hurt just as much as I have been, I know what its like and I’m not letting him go through that, no way,” Kurt’s defiant eyes glared up at the bully as Karofsky’s eyes narrowed.
“Look, queer, do it, or I swear I’ll come through on that threat I made last year,” Karofsky grinned menacingly, thinking back to the death threat which made Kurt transfer. Kurt was staring up at him, eyes wider then he’d ever seen them, “Now, get to it Queenie,” Karofsky pulled off and shoved Kurt towards the door.
It was another week until Karofsky realised that Kurt hadn’t said a word. About anything. At the very least Dave expected him to blab to his boyfriend about the threats. He ignored his supposed best friend as he asked Dave if they could reschedule their pizza night so he and Blaine could go harass some idiots at the mall.
He glared at Azimo, then at Blaine who’s just approached them. Glancing around, Dave noticed that Kurt was just exiting the cafeteria. Like he did last week, Karofsky stood and followed the little gay out, ignoring Azimo again as he asked where he was going. He caught up to Kurt as stopped by his locker, gripping his arm as he pulled him into the locker room again, glancing around carefully to make sure no one important was watching.
“Karofsky!” Kurt bit his lip, staring up at him with big beautiful eyes. Karofsky’s hand tightened, nope, he hadn’t thought that. Kurt wasn’t beautiful, he was a queer.
“Looks like you didn’t do what I asked,” The bully smirked, “What did I tell you would happen? Hmm?” Kurt looked terrified and for a moment, Karofsky felt guilty. He hadn’t had any intention to kill Kurt, he was a dick sometimes sure, but he wasn’t a killer.
“Just let go,” Kurt pleaded, “We both know you wouldn’t dare hurt me, not with what happened last time,”
Oh, Karofsky thought, “So you think I’m a coward?” he growled and slammed his fist into Kurt’s side, grinning when he yelped and doubled over, giving the bully the opportunity to shove him onto the floor and kick him hard enough that he slid across the floor. Karofsky moved forward again, yelling out when Kurt slammed his foot into his ankle, “Queer,” he spat as he fell to his knees, glaring at Kurt, who tried kicking out again.
“Hey now,” Karofsky smirked, grabbing onto Kurt’s ankle and dragging him closer, then moving to sit on his back to keep him from moving. He vaguely heard the door open behind him, but he didn’t even have the chance to turn around before he felt himself being half thrown against the wall. He blinked, watching as Blaine The Hobbit growled in his face.
“You don’t touch Kurt like that again,” Blaine snarled, “As if it wasn’t enough that you hit him, kissed him, you have to try to rape him too?”
Karofsky just stared, “I wasn’t…”
“You kissed him?” Azimo interrupted with wide eyes. The whole room seemed to freeze as Dave’s eyes widened to almost comical levels and he stared at his best friend with horror.
“Azimo, I just…” Karofsky tried to say but Blaine slammed his palm into Karofsky’s chest.
“Stay away from Kurt!” He forced out through clenched teeth.
And then he was moving away, pulling Kurt to his feet and out of the room. Leaving Azimo and Karofsky to stare silently at each other.
Azimo may not have been sure about Blaine’s sexuality after he’d noticed him watching Kurt with a fond smile, but he was pretty sure of Karofsky’s.
