Think of it like a trip. Round trip, LA to Sydney, and back again. Boone repeats these words like a mantra.
LA to Sydney. Back again.
He is not disappointed that she’s not with him (just like he’s not in love with her).
And he won’t remember blood on her neck (and his hands and her shirt and oh god she’s dead).
She didn’t want to come back. He reasons that this is why he did not make her.
He steps into the California air, the Aussie sun still on his back, his skin. Her lips still there. Legs crossed so easily.
We’ll just pretend it never happened.
