Title: Sparks Burn Out
Summary: She turns away so he can't see.
Pairing: Claire/Esau
Rating: R
Notes: More twisted-ness. :)

When he first comes to her, she thinks there will be comfort. That he will hold her and understand her pain. Instead, he gives her more. More pain and hurt and anger and there is fire in his voice. Laced in poison and wrapped in thorns. He keeps her in the cabin, hidden away and shut off from whatever he is doing. It's not safe. They're looking for you. And she doesn't ask who they are, because she knows. The Others. They took Aaron. And they'll take her next he says.

But then one night he opens to door. And she is sobbing and asking for the boy. And he kneels down with all the world in his eyes and looks at her. No more crying. A rough thumb drags under her eyes. Before she can react, he has her on the floor, tugging at her jeans. She kicks and claws at him, but his strength is more than she thought it would be. A hand slams into her jaw and she see stars for the longest time, even still when he pushes himself into her, rough and undignified. She cries silently and, when he leaves her, she turns away so he can't see.

She builds her shelter and still, he comes to her. Still she tries to push him away. I don't want this. I don't want you. I don't need you. At those words he pins her down by her throat and she chokes on them, gaping up at him with blinded eyes.

You need me. You're alone. And you need me. She can hardly even nod. He gets up and leaves her there, half naked and half raped. She sickly wishes he'd finished.

She wants to kill herself when she starts aching for his company. Any touch is good touch she reasons. She spent three months on an island never alone, always loved or protected, always sure that someone would watch out for her. Now she waits to be violated by the only living thing she thinks she can trust. Her hands cling to him at night and, in her own twisted head, she loves him. And that singular thought terrifies her. It's okay, he soothes. I'm all you have. I'm all you need.

Eventually, she believes him.
