The most remarkable thing about "Cut and Restored" is Malograntum Vitiorum's spot-on Hawkeye voice. The author nails Hawkeye's verbose rants and quirky humor in a way I've never seen outside the television series itself, and I've been reading M*A*S*H fic for about ten years. The story is told through the eyes of a young writer, a point of view which always carries the danger of having the original character overpower the rest of the story.
