Rush was busy working -- working hard, in fact -- but there was this annoying noise tingling his ears. He couldn’t ignore it. He turned to those gathered in the corner.
“What are you doing?” he growled.
“Nothing,” Eli said, shoving something behind his back. He and Riley looked very innocent -- too innocent.
Rush raised his eyebrow. And then they were joined by Volker and Brody, who looked very excited about something until they saw Rush. Then they turned around to regard him in that same overly innocent, casual way that Eli and Riley were.
“Eli,” Rush said slowly, massaging his temple. “Is that a kino behind your back?”
“No,” Eli lied, shaking his head convincingly.
“Oh my God,” Riley whispered. “Chloe has joined them.”
The men turned around suddenly and started murmuring incomprehensibly to each other. Rush could no longer pretend they weren’t doing whatever it was they were, and curiosity was grabbing him by the nads.
“What are you doing?” he finally asked.
“They snuck a kino into James’s room,” Volker said, a dumb smile plastered to his face.
“That’s an invasion of privacy,” Rush replied, going back to his work.
“Park’s with her. They’re sitting on the bed.”
“And they’re just talking,” Riley added quickly, with an air of disappointment in his voice.
Rush rolled his eyes. Eli turned up the volume.
“…Yeah,” Park said slowly, “I actually think he’s pretty cute.”
All ears -- save for Rush’s -- honed in keenly, listening desperately for details.
“Yeah, but would you be with him?” James asked.
“In what sense?”
“Would you date him?”
“No -- probably not,” Park replied quietly. But then she smiled. “But it’d be interesting to show him a good time when he least expects it.”
The men -- or rather boys -- began hitting and nudging each other excitedly, as though something important and juicy had just been said. Rush couldn’t help but smirk at that and, once again, reflect on how truly idiotic and simple they were.
“But what about you?” Chloe asked James. “I mean…several guys are practically gagging for it.”
James shifted. They could now see that she was in her panties.
“Zoom in,” Riley commanded. “Zoom in right now.”
“I am!” Eli said.
“Well, I mean, there’s one or two that haven’t made it a secret that they’d be into it, but I don’t know,” James replied. “I’ve got some things to work through. I’m ready for a commitment, you know?”
The boys all made a generalized sound of distaste.
“What about you and Lt. Scott?” Park asked Chloe.
Eli’s eyes went wide and he clumsily tried to zoom in closer to Chloe to hear, but he accidentally jerked the camera a little too far. The boys held their breaths, hoping the ladies hadn’t noticed -- they didn’t seem to, because Chloe answered rather quickly.
“I’ve actually been into more mature men lately,” Chloe replied casually.
“Are you serious?” Park asked, leaning forward intently. “Spill!”
“Let’s just say I have a thing for accents,” Chloe said with a giggle.
“Oh my God!” James said. “Are you saying that --?”
“I’ve been sleeping with Dr. Rush,” said Chloe with a smile.
The boys froze. Rush smirked.
“And let me just say: that man is an animal. Last night, he cornered me in his lab and practically ripped my clothes off.”
“I always imagined he’d be good in bed,” James mused. “How was it?”
“Like nothing I’ve ever felt before. He’s a god. I must’ve had at least eight orgasms. I don’t even know how I’m able to walk today.”
Eli’s mouth was bobbing up and down and Brody looked from Rush to the screen and back again; the others had their own comical reactions. The whole while, Rush worked, hiding his smile.
“So, you’re saying…” Park said with a curious smile.
“It was fucking amazing,” Chloe confided. “I can’t stop thinking about it and each time I do I -- well I -- don’t make me say it!”
The girls giggled.
“But what’s the thing you find most attractive about Rush?”
Chloe twisted her mouth, thoughtfully for a moment.
“Well, I suppose the most attractive thing about Rush is that he doesn’t listen in on other people’s conversations like Eli and Riley.”
“That IS sexy,” James said.
Rush burst out laughing and Eli began to sputter.
“You mean they -- they knew the whole time?”
“They knew ever since Chloe walked past here about ten minutes ago,” Rush replied, unable to control his laughter. His sides hurt.
“Not cool, Eli,” Chloe said, grabbing the kino so that her face was entirely in view. “If you ever do that again, we’ll send the kinos into the showers and broadcast whatever images may come back. Understand?”
“Roger,” Eli replied, his face bright red.
“Gits,” Rush chuckled.
Eli turned off the kino.
