And it's a privilege to pee..

Sometime around 8:30 or 9 pm, I use the toilet. And it starts to overflow. And the cat has to get on the seat to watch it.

A little history:

I moved into this apartment and everything worked fine. A few months into life, the toilet started having trouble flushing properly. After some investigation, I determined that it wasn't dumping enough water into the bowl. I dutifully notified the managers, who shortened the chain. I wanted them to change the workings, because they looked old and crappy, but it was not to be.

The toilet then mostly worked with only a little extra water dumping on my part and the occasional plunge. Then one fateful evening it overflowed. I got the water cleaned up (or so I thought, it actually leaked into my downstair neighbor's bathroom) and went on my merry. The managers told me to notify them the next time the toilet overflowed since it leaked into the lower tenant's ceiling.

The toilet more or less behaved, then recently it started doing that thing where the tank keeps filling and dumping into the bowl. Wee-hah. I had to lift the float to make it stop. Fortunately, it would stop.

Then last night, it started to overflow, and this time I had the presence of mind to turn the water off at the valve. I duly notified the managers, who finally decided to run a snake through the toilet and change my fittings. All that should occur this evening.

I still have the valve turned off, although today, since I'm not so tired, it occurs to me I could try plunging to see if it will flush. I hate leaving waste in the toilet.

Last night I got to stay up 'til midnight doing my ordinary laundry and a bunch of gross, wet towels.

Oh, and as a bonus, I forgot to turn out my car lights and had to get a jump start this morning.

I'm surprisingly not bitter.

cars, problems, toilets
