OC Transpo = assholes

Dec 10, 2008 08:41

I don't rely so much on the bus anymore and am I ever glad that I don't.

I don't agree with the transit strike, the deal that was proposed to them is one of the best going! 3% pay raise 1 year, 2% the following 2 years and a bump to 8 days uncertified sick leave.

But since other municipalities generally get 10 uncert days, they strike (and I'm sure a few other trivial reasons).

Honestly, uncert sick means you can call in sick, no notes required. If you really are sick well - get a note and it'll be certified.

As a gov worker who has a lot of this uncert time (not sure how much but it's alot), I don't even use 8 days in an average year, usually more like 4-5 and those 4-5 days i'm really fucking sick.

The coincidence this happens during one of the worst December snowstorms in history, well......... I bet the union is like 'haha, look at how much the city needs us' and the city is more like 'you selfish little.....'

I walked into work today, took awhile (55 instead of 40 minutes) and you know I'm not sure a bus would have gotten me here faster (and shovelling the driveway out to take the car was not in the cards). I'm not too affected by this.

But you are leaving people who can't afford cars and cabrides stranded. Often the less well-to-do - who have babies to feed, heat bills to pay for....and these trnaspo drivers make how much money to drive a bus and tolerate a few assholes each day??

This is stupid, give me a break.
