The wonderful
thistle_chaser reminded me of things tonight, inadvertently. As in, home stuff.
This problem is not with my building, technically, but I don't know how my building would even handle it. It used to be just a weekend thing where the very strong smell of marijuana would come into my apartment on maybe a Saturday night. Or a holiday. I don't know which apartment it's coming from, but obviously finds its way through via the vents. I used to think it was the couple directly beside me but I found out the other day that they moved. That leaves the people upstairs (who I am already not fond of because they blamed me for music I wasn't playing) and whichever apartments connect to mine through another building (my apartment is a corner unit, so the next one is perpendicular to mine in another building but we definitely, definitely share walls. The walls are thin. I can hear.. things).
For those I haven't whined about it to, I'm rather allergic to marijuana. At least second hand. I've never smoked it so I couldn't tell you how I would do with a first hand experience with it. I get a bad headache, nausea, and it generally puts me down for the count. So walking into a wave of allergens when I go in my bathroom is not cool. And having my clothing smell like it because of the vent in my closet? Also very not cool.
But I don't know what can be done. If I report it to the office, can they even do anything? I know they probably have a no drugs policy on the lease, but how do you investigate that? The only thing I can think of is if they sent someone around in the evening to see where the scent is strongest. If I'm getting it in my apartment, I'd bet anything that you can smell it in the hallways.
I actually thought once I moved out of Atlanta that it would happen less. It seemed like everyone smoked in Atlanta. I'd hoped around here it would be less common because so many people are military and I assumed you wouldn't be able to get away with it, but apparently not. Also not everyone around me is military so blegh.
And an update on the whiny hip situation: turned out to be fine. Rode a splendid lesson on Saturday. Cantered off the lunge on an actual Spaz Horse and he was a dream. I do have an unsightly bruise there now, but it's perfectly superficial. Thanks to all of you who told me to wait it out. :D
In happier news, I HAVE WAY TOO MANY SERIES TO WATCH. I just finished series 1 of Wallander. So much win. So very much win. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really got me excited about more crime dramas, so I picked up a couple more. I'll be checking out The Shadow Line soon and one called Luther after that. Luther in particular looked really interesting. It has an actress I enjoyed in Suburban Shootout in it, but in a completely different sort of role. She has great range. XD
I also have Downton Abbey to start on soon. It has Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) in it! I am quite a fan of her so I'm excited about that too.
I also finished Series 5 of Doctor Who tonight. I am.. so torn. So very torn. I don't know how to feel about Eleven yet.
