This will also be cross-posted to my RP
tumblr.
I haven't really done any art in forever. First was the generalized disappointment of the news of not getting my art table for the convention in September followed shortly afterward by my thrilling new health issues (lol sarcasm) and real life stress. I'd sit down in front of the computer and just couldn't make anything really substantial happen.
But I've been feeling pretty inspired lately for a few reasons. Working on some new original storylines (meaning non-WoW RP), new WoW plots, and actual RP earlier this evening. So I decided to test the waters with my usual experiment. That is, to draw Traejan a portrait or a headshot. Because he is always who I draw when I'm practicing because I know him and there's zero guess work and headshots are good practice as I try to bring my style closer to semi-realism.
So we arrive at this:
Of which I have no words to describe how happy I am with it. Which as I brought it into photoshop to size it down and crop it and all that good stuff an idea struck me.
As some of you may or may not realize, I've been playing this character for a very long time. He was rolled on launch day of Wrath of the Lich King and I began RPing with him not long after that and have been RPing him continuously nonstop (with a only few months of hiatus here and there altogether) in all that time. I've never RPed a character longer! He had a story line on Kirin Tor that eventually ended happily before he came to take up residence here on Wyrmrest Accord, at which point major key adjustments were made to his backstory but all in all he's still the same guy he's always been. Yet and still he continually surprises me every time I play him with new ideas and quirks.
To make what could be a really long story shorter, I've combined my portions of the art I've done of him over the years into a singular image that not only show some of the evolution of the character, but also the evolution of my skill as an artist. It was an interesting exercise because I realized that sometimes in my haste to "quick sketch" I would fall back on old habits (anime style). Those images that are really polished and finished looking literally took 10-12 hours (per day) over several days to complete on the full images, because of the way I used to do my line art. The sketches are just that, sketches, and therefore are of an obviously lower quality. But I thought I might share because some people like to see progression things. :3
The last two really throw me. Because there's only been a month or so between them and no practice to speak of. I'm quite happy right now. Evolution picture under a cut for size. :D
Also! Thank you to you all who continue to RP with this diva because it just makes him better and better. :D
