Jinyoung fiddles his pencil against his chin, staring at the notebook against his knees. He's not paying attention when the door opens and an unsuspecting Sunwoo barges in and flops onto his mattress.

"Sunwoo! What are you doing here?" exclaims Jinyoung, nearly jumping up in surprise and clutching his notebook to his chest.

Sunwoo rolls over on his back and grins at Jinyoung, upside-down. "Seeing how you were, hyung," he says with a laugh. "You're so jumpy nowadays, goodness. Even Chansik is getting worried about you."

Jinyoung does his best to calm his still rapidly-beating heart and manages to roll his eyes. "Yeah, but that doesn't give you the rights to give me a heart-attack," he says.

"Sorry." Still grinning, Sunwoo rolls back right-side up and sits cross-legged on Jinyoung's bed. He leans over to his notebook. "What are you working on?"

"That's none of your business." Jinyoung brings the notebook even closer to his chest and, for good measure, sticks his tongue out at Sunwoo. "Now that you see that I'm perfectly alive and well, think you can leave me alone now?"

"You nearly jumped out of your skin when I came in. That's hardly alive and well, isn't it?" But Sunwoo slips off of his bed and just shoots one last smirk at Jinyoung, before leaving and shutting his bedroom door closed.

Jinyoung smiles at the closed door, and then returns to his notebook, suddenly inspired.

--

"No... that's not how you do it! No!"

Chansik frustratedly runs over to Dongwoo who seems like he's mauling the drums. Sunwoo is laughing at them uproariously, while Junghwan is frowning slightly.

"Can you guys calm down?" sighs Jinyoung, putting his bag on the nearby table and looking at them.

"What's the matter?" Sunwoo turns to him and grins. "Let them have a little fun, hyung."

Jinyoung is tempted to give in - especially by the way that Sunwoo is looking at him - but he shakes the feeling off, and shakes his head. "No. We have to go over the choreography for the new song - and not play with the drums," he adds pointedly to Chansik and Dongwoo, although they still seem too busy to be listening.

He stares at them for a bit longer. Sunwoo picks up the hint and says, "Hey! Idiots!"

Chansik and Dongwoo turn to them.

"What?"

"Leader-sshi is speaking to us," says Sunwoo, turning to Jinyoung with a cheeky grin.

Jinyoung sighs, again. It's a bit unbelievable how Sunwoo can switch sides so quickly.

"Yes, so anyways," he continues, like Chansik and Dongwoo hadn't interrupted them at all. "We need to work on the choreography, so if you don't mind putting the drum set away - "

"Do you know how long it took us to take it out?" Chansik complains.

Sunwoo walks over and swats Chansik on the head. "Stop whining. I'll do it."

Jinyoung breathes out a sigh of relief. And still, sometimes, he's grateful to have Sunwoo around.

--

They laugh as they run backstage. It's still not the first time, but it's really impossible for Jinyoung to ever feel tired of the exhilaration and adrenaline from being on stage.

"They cheered my name!" exclaims Junghwan. "They cheered my name!"

Chansik rolls his eyes, but Dongwoo cuffs Junghwan around the neck. "Yes, yes, we get it."

"They were cheering Jinyoung hyung's name, too," says Sunwoo, his eyes glittering.

Jinyoung ignores him, and says, "Come on, I think the manager wants to celebrate with us or something."

"Celebrate? Celebrate for what?" asks Chansik curiously.

"Tenth day after debut, or something." Jinyoung chuckles. "Sort of stupid, but - you know."

"Oh, seriously, hyung. There's nothing stupid about celebrating." Sunwoo pinches Jinyoung's arm, teasingly.

"Hey!" Jinyoung moves out of Sunwoo's grip, and turns to glare - only, Sunwoo is smiling so it's a bit difficult to glare. "I didn't say that there was anything stupid about celebrating, only the reasons - "

"Celebrating means eating lots of food," says Junghwan meaningfully. "If there's any reason to eat lots of food, I doubt it's stupid."

"Yeah, hyung," teases Sunwoo. "It's not stupid."

"You're stupid," Jinyoung murmurs, although the smile on his face gives himself away.

--

It's about two in the morning but Jinyoung is up, writing song lyrics again. He's been able to cork out the words more easily lately, although there still seems to be something holding back. He's not quite sure what. The pen in his hands suddenly feels dizzy, and he stares at the symbols littered across the page... half of them don't even make any sense. What's Jinyoung even thinking? He rips the notebook paper and crumples it into a ball, and tosses it across the room.

As he rolls over, he notices that he hadn't heard a thump for when the paper ball was supposed to have landed.

"What?" he asks tiredly, not bothering to glance up.

"Hyung." Sunwoo's voice sounds amused. "What are you doing? You shouldn't be up this late."

"Yeah, well neither should you." Jinyoung doesn't budge from his sprawled position on his bed.

"Well you're our leader." Sunwoo's voice is closer now. Jinyoung wonders if he's actually in his room at this point. Although he might have been, from the start.

"Well you're a member of this band, and so I think you deserve more sleep than me," says Jinyoung, flopping a hand over his face.

A chuckle. And then a considerable amount of weight being added to his bed.

"We both need sleep, hyung," says Sunwoo, sounding serious this time. "So why don't you just sleep?"

Jinyoung doesn't even protest as he feels a pair of hands lifting his shoulders up, delicately placing his torso completely on his bed, back against his mattress. Then he feels the weight moving to the foot of his bed, about to slip off, and can't help but kick it.

"Stay," he mutters, still not opening his eyes.

Sunwoo chuckles again.

"Only if you want me to."

--

Three weeks later, Jinyoung no longer stays up to ungodly hours attempting to write lyrics to songs. Half is because when he shows the (admittedly, embarrassing) lyrics to Sunwoo, he chuckles and says, "What goes through your head at nights? I swear, not one of these songs makes sense." The other half is because Sunwoo tells him he actually needs to sleep and not waste time on songs that won't even be seen to anyone else (aside from him), anyways.

Jinyoung smiles at the memory, and isn't paying attention in the practice room until Sunwoo pokes him in the side.

"Hey," says Sunwoo, and Jinyoung nearly recoils in surprise. Sunwoo just smiles, though. "You okay there? Looked like you were dozing off for a second."

"I'm fine." Why Sunwoo cares about his sleeping habits so much, Jinyoung will never know. But it's sort of nice, all the same. "Eight hours of sleep a day, and such."

"Good," says Sunwoo. "Now help me wake up Chansik; I swear, he stayed up playing those video games again."

"It wasn't good that manager hyung bought those for us, was it?" asks Jinyoung, mildly amused.

"Not good at all." Sunwoo grins.

They both walk over to the chair in the practice room (while Junghwan and Dongwoo are working on their singing) and begin to prod Chansik awake. When Chansik doesn't stir, Sunwoo nods to Jinyoung and they both yank on his ears very hard until Chansik jerks up in his chair in surprise.

"Ow! Wha's that?" he mumbles, eyes still half-closed.

"No video games for a week," says Sunwoo, and they both walk off, ignoring Chansik's more awake cries of indignation.

Jinyoung smiles to himself, and then turns to Sunwoo. Sunwoo is smiling back.
