une ombre de la rue

The party was actually decent. Enjoyed it, even though I barely knew anyone there! Wore gorgeous Forever 21 dress. Heh.

Saw La Vie En Rose (or La Môme if you want to be pretentiously French like me) just now. I know, decadent - New York movie prices, schoolnight, etc. It was a good movie despite itself. The movie itself was messy - it leaves out amazing things in Edith Piaf's life, like how she worked with the French Resistance. There's no mention of World War II. The movie is non-linear, but in a very disorganized way - oh! We're in this time period! Oh, in that! Seriously, sometimes I felt like I needed a timeline written out in front of me. That said, the acting is just beyond. Best is Marion Cotillard, who plays the chanteuse herself in just the most amazing way. The transformation between Edith as a young girl and Edith near death is crazy. Totally cried when Cotillard as Piaf sang, "Non, je ne regrette rien" (most of the singing was taken from Piaf recordings itself because of her distinct voice, but it looks like it comes out naturally from Cotillard's mouth). I bet Cotillard will be nominated for a César, even if the movie isn't. She is really good in this movie.

It's SERIOUSLY my bedtime. At least I get to wake up later tomorrow (read: 2:30?)
