I've never been good at labeling songs by genre but the hubby says this is punk so I'll take his word for that. He absolutely loves this song. It's his Happy End-of-the-World song. He told me (more or less) that every time he hears this song, he pictures the joyful destruction of everyone and everything around him. Or, not so much specific people around HIM as the general notion of that level of destructiveness.
I can't really argue with that. It really has that sort of feel to it...
I've never looked the lyrics translation up before this moment but the lyrics seem to suit the image we have of it quite nicely.
Apparently this song is the 5th ending of Gintama as well as being just generally awesome. That must be why all of my youtube searching only turned up anime stuff. I had to load this to youtube myself which is why I'm only just now sharing this instead of two days ago when I first wanted to.
In any event, this was DOES's fourth single. The title "Shura" apparently means carnage or warzone (according to HERE and HERE) and it was released on 2007-05-16. I don't know much about the band but that first link in parentheses is to the wikipedia which has some info if you're curious.
