Title: The Things We Can't Control
Author:
prettyoriannaPairing: Akame. Others to be added later.
Rating: NC-17.
Genre: crime drama au
Beta by: my cat Gemma. okay, seriously, nobody
Disclaimer: I don't own KAT-TUN, any of its members, any other JE people. I write this for fun and for other fans of these fine folks. But don't steal my
plots, mmkay? I put a great deal of time into them except for when I'm randomly spastically spitting words onto a page. But I value those too...
Summary: Two criminals with vastly different styles meet by chance one day. They immediately clash but is that all they'll ever be? How much is fate and how much choice? And how will their meeting change the world around them?
Author's Note: Hokay, the chapter is short and the last bit is completely rushed and I'm exhausted. I will do my best to update soon but that stupid air conditioner is busted and the house is hot and it's making me sluggish and occasionally sick during the day and I'm having to do the housework after dark so it's eating up my normal writing time. And I know if I don't post this now, it will be at least Sunday night before I am able to. So... short and rushed, please enjoy.
BANNER BY DESHISORABA!! THE MOST AWESOME BANNER EVER AND I WILL FIGHT ANYONE WHO DISAGREES!
Warning: This gets graphic often occasionally, containing at the very least foul language, character death, nefarious crimes, rape, etc etc.

The Things We Can't Control Master Post Chapter 92 ~Saving Shuta~
Shibata-san - wait, make that Takeshi! - explained that when his parents died, they split their small fortune in three. Half went to various charities and a quarter went to him and a quarter to his brother. Since Takeshi was eighteen at the time, he became legal guardian of his younger brother who was only fifteen. They kept the house and their money was put in trust until the day they turned twenty-one, with the family lawyer having complete authority over it until then.
Takeshi was already in prison almost a year by the time he was twenty-one, so he hadn’t really given much thought to his. His brother Shuta, though, was seventeen at the time of Takeshi’s arrest. Old enough that he was able to stay home and take care of himself and so that’s what he did. He was fully supported by the $1.5 million dollar trust left to him.
Things seemed to be going well for Shuta but as his twenty-first birthday approached, the family lawyer started becoming evasive about the transfer of control over his money. When Shuta finally got the bank and the cops involved, a startling truth was discovered.
The money was all gone.
Not only that, but there were debts that the two brothers picked up as a result of bad investments and so forth on the accounts by the lawyer. The bank was taking the house and the car at the end of the week. Shuta was going to be left with nothing. Oh, sure, the lawyer was going to jail. But that didn’t help Shuta one bit.
Shuta was now twenty one and he’d never had to work before. He had no marketable skills except that he could drive himself to work. Well, at least, he could… if the bank wasn’t taking the car.
He had nowhere to go.
Kame’s first thought was that he shouldn’t have to live on the streets. Kame knew only too well how that went. He wanted to offer a place at the apartment for the man but he’d have to ask Yurina first. Considering everything that happened to her, having another man around might be hard for her.
“Is there a phone I can use?” Kame asked.
Akira got the guard outside to take Kame to a phone. He called the apartment. It rang for what felt like forever before she finally answered with a weak, “Hello?”
“Hey, Yurina. It’s Kame.”
“Did you find Marika?”
“Not y-” but he didn’t finish the sentence before he heard the dial tone.
Damn it…
He called again. It took three times to get her to actually stay on the line long enough for him to explain what was going on, about how he couldn’t follow the woman since he couldn’t drive but that he might have found a solution to that problem. He told her about Shuta needing a place to stay and that the twins wanted to help but since they couldn’t, they were hoping he and Yurina would. She didn’t sound thrilled with the idea until Kame mentioned that Shuta could drive so he’d be able to resume looking for Marika.
“Whatever it takes to find her.” She hung up again.
After that, the guard took Kame back to the room where Takeshi and the twins were waiting for him. They worked out the rest of the details and before Kame knew it, he was at the Shibata house helping Shuta pack up some clothes and other important items.
Shuta didn’t really say much after the hello. He seemed to be kind of in shock. Kame supposed he could understand that, though. His whole life was coming out from under him.
Once the suitcases were packed and waiting by the door, Kame waiting while Shuta took one last long look at the place. The man’s expression was sad and very tender.
“You’ve been here your whole life, haven’t you?” Kame asked him softly and Shuta just nodded. It wasn’t right; the man had done nothing wrong and he was losing everything because of another man’s greed.
But finally Shuta said, “A lot of memories. I guess I’ll have to make new ones. Goodbye, mother. Goodbye, father.” And with one final nod, he snatched up his suitcases and the two of them left. They didn’t go straight back to the apartment, though. First they swung by the parking lot of the burned club to get the car. It was just lucky that Kame kept the car key on the keyring with his house key so that he wouldn’t lose it.
Shuta drove them back to the apartment.
Yurina was sitting on the couch looking completely miserable when they got their but then her brow furrowed and she said, “Shuta? What are you doing here?”
Shuta responded with, “Yurina?”
“You two know each other?” Kame asked.
“He’s in my class down at the rec center. Jujutsu,” Yurina said, though it seemed that with the initial surprise passed, she was rapidly losing interest.
“We used to spar until she stopped coming. How’s the baby?” Shuta asked.
But Yurina just shook her head and said, “I wish I knew…”
“Yuri-chan, I promise you, I will do everything I can to find Marika. I’d like to think I’ve shown you that I will keep my word when I give it.” Kame smiled at her though he imagined it looked a bit forced. “Shuta has agreed to drive me wherever I need so I can follow that woman.”
Despite having just said his name, Shuta’s voice made him jump because Kame had forgotten he was actually standing there. Talk about being observant, huh? But Shuta’s worried question, “The baby was kidnapped? That’s what this is about? Oh, god… Somehow my problems seems so small compared to that… Yurina, I’ll help. I’ll… I’ll do whatever you need. Besides, I owe you both for taking me in like this.”
Yurina just nodded.
Speaking of taking him in, “Um… Yurina is in the bedroom. I was sleeping on the couch but you should go ahead and take it. I’ll buy a sleeping mat for me as soon as I can.”
“Are you sure that’s okay?” Shuta asked.
“Un. You’re going to be driving, trying to tail someone, so I need you alert. Besides, it’s polite and I’ve slept in worse places than the apartment floor.”
The rest of the day was uneventful.
Thank goodness for small miracles.

Chapter 93 ~Office Arrest~ A/N: Small world, huh? Shuta and Yurina know each other. Maybe not well, but still...
Seriously, sorry it's short, late, and substandard. But the basics are there so the chapters to follow will make sense and hopefully will be better written.
