All these are from a Japanese book of 300 crochet motifs. Each motif is diagrammed, which is a much better way to convey doily directions than paragraph form, and makes Japanese crochet books accessible. Which is good, because English language crochet books are almost universally hopelessly ugly or designed for complete novices. I can't remember a time when I didn't crochet, and I started out with thread crochet in the round. My doilies didn't use to lay flat, but then, I wasn't following a pattern.
