We put Maxie, my little black doggie, to sleep friday morning. She was dying from lymphoma and had stopped eating and barely had enough strength to stand up and go outside to use the bathroom. We decided as a family that it was time to say goodbye. I said my farewells and am mostly ok, along with Ian and Nathan, but Mom and Dad are still upset over it.
At the time we were discussing this, Mom and Dad both agreed that we were not going to get another dog, but Mom confessed to me that they had stopped at PetsMart on Sunday and took a little look at the rescue dogs. She said Dad came away with tears in his eyes. It's still way too soon to get another, but there will be a second dog at some point and that makes me happy.
Also, Scully was a big factor in the second dog decision. Mom and Dad took her to the mountains for the weekend so she could romp and play, but they said she didn't know what to do without her sister. Scully needs a new sister.
