I love Spencer's honesty, I love how she views Ryan, both knowing he's her best friend but that he can be kind of ridiculous, sometimes. I love Ryan's voice, here, too. Sometimes there's a habit among writers to portray pre-Panic Ryan as REALLY an asshole, and I like that here he's just a teenage boy who's gone through some shit and is dealing with it the best way he knows how. And, of course, it helps that he has his Spencer with him, which is just another wonderful thing about this fic - the easiness and unselfconscious way that they have with each other develops a real sense of their friendship and makes me happy for them.
My favorite, though, was that you didn't shy away from the awkward tension of Ryan's statement about dating Spencer and the almost-kiss. The anticipation, nerves, and fear of the unknown all came out so brilliantly that I didn't know if I wanted them to kiss and take that risk, or if I wanted them to go back to normal. And then the end was fabulous. Spencer Smith is a hellcat. Believe it.
Awesome job. I always love your stuff, though, so this isn't surprising. ;)

i'm really glad you liked the characterizations and the way they interact. tension! :D i have a firm belief that no matter how good of friends you are, there's always going to be a 'what if' scenario introduced (or maybe that's just my own inability to shut that idea out of my own head) and sometimes the outcome is a conscious decision and sometimes it's not...okay, not sure if that made sense, but i'm going to quit rambling, lol.
and i totally believe that spencer would knock the shit out of anyone who really messed with ryan *happy sigh* o.t.p.
