Day Off

I am free of the Frappucino hell I call work today. No, it really isn't that bad. Everyone in Forest Hill goes to their "cottage" for the summer so we are very, very slow. So Henry and I are hanging out, keeping cool. We spent a few hours outside this morning. I worked on some knitting and read through this month's Gourmet magazine. It is all about growing and eating local food. Chefs who grow their own ingredients. Very nice summer reading. Of course, it is way too hot to cook so all we've been eating are salads and fruit these days. And popsicles. Lots and lots of popsicles. While I knit and read, Henry played in the grass and flowers. We bought him a harness and roaming leash. He seems to like it. We sit on our porch and he plays about in the garden.

A friend if mine from Calgary, who is also working at Harbourfront, Carmen, is making a wall tile for me for my dad's birthday. We got together on Tuesday to discuss. I am so excited about it. I have loved her work for 4 years and I am so excited she is making something just for my Dad. Keith Richards is also a fan of her work. he bought one of her pieces last summer when the Stones were in Toronto warming up for their world tour. After working out the details, we just chatted. THREE HOURS later we realized it was dark out and we should really heard home. It was so, so good to have a really long, good chat with a girl. She really gets the whole trying to be an artist thing, moving to do so, and the differences between Toronto and Calgary.

The Boyfriend is applying for a job that could lead to major changes for us. I don't want to say too much. Chances of him getting it are slim, but it is a major event in our lives right now.
