recap: the vampire diaries: let the right one in [ep17]
There's a storm a'brewin'...
“I'm not gonna turn someone who learned everything he knows about vampires from Netflix.”
Oh, BURN!
Fredrick-the-Evil is whittling wood, the number one pastime of evil masterminds the world over.
He wants revenge on the Salvator Brothers for his vampire-girlfriend's death,
but Bossy-Pearl tells him to be patient. He pretends to agree.
Elena is hanging with the brothers at their house.
Damon's expressions are the best part:
Brothers wonder how to get revenge for the vamp-attack at their house from episode 16.
Also, Damon wants Pearl to help him get Katherine back.
Insert Elena eye roll.
DAMON: How long are you going to blame me for turning your mother into a vampire?
ELENA: I'm not blaming you Damon. I've accepted the fact that you're a
self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities.
DAMON: Ouch.
Stefan tells Elena she has to stay out of their vamp-fighting plans,
which means she will most likely ignore is warning later & run right into danger.
Anna notices Jeremy's Vervain bracelet that Elena gave him. He's a bozo and offers it to her,
but she tells him he should keep wearing it. Hmm. Something tells me Anna ~likes~ him.
Matt complains about his mom, and Vicki, because, oh yeah...
she's supposed to be MISSING, not vamped-then-dead.
Caroline has to go out into the SUPER SCARY STORM for her Dad's Boyfriend's Daughter's Birthday.
(I forgot Caroline's Dad was gay. Probably because I don't remember ever seeing him... We haven't, right?)
Meanwhile, Damon winds a clock & offers Stefan soccer-mom-blood from the fridge.
Instead, Stefan goes frolicking in the woods looking for “squirrels”
but ends up getting stabbed & taken hostage by Fredrick & the Vamps-of-the-Vamp-House.
Damon & Elena figure out Stefan should have been back from hunting,
so they go to Pearl's House of Vampires to look for him.
Fredrick-the-Evil answers the door & compels the House-Human to “never let Damon in” so
he watches them get stabbity on Stefan & can't get in to save him.
Elena's waiting in the car. She sees a Stefan-less Damon come back & offers to go in herself.
Like she can go in a HOUSE FULL OF VAMPIRES and save him. Um, need a Plan B.
Wait. Stefan, who?
Then shirtless-Stefan pops on the screen. Oh, yeah. That guy.
Stefan is tied up with Vervain ropes & tortured, and Sweet-Harper tries to stop them. He's not very good at it though, as he's more of a lover than a fighter, so he ends up staked down next to Stefan.
Damon & Elena go find Slayer-Teach to help them save Stefan. He refuses at first,
but then Damon dangles the possibility of finding Teach's wife in front of him & he changes his tune.
Jeremy pretends to be extra pathetic & claims not to have “anyone else”
(never mind Elena & Jenna) to squeeze a “pity-turn” out of Anna.
Anna says there are only four reasons to make a vampire.
Anna says he doesn't fit any of those “yet”... does she feel a fit of boredom coming on, or what? ;)
Who knows. Pearl shows up, so Anna has to ditch Jeremy ASAP.
A man warns Pearl that the streets are flooded due to THE STORM.
She blows him off until she figures out he's the Mayor & joins him for dinner.
Mayor Lockwood's ass-check of Pearl's goods is noticed by Tyler who almost barfs.
Stefan's rescue team saddles up.
Damon makes fun of Elena & Stefan's ~true love~: “His love lifts you up where you belong.”
Boys tell girl she can't go in and help, of course. Girl demands to be involved.
Elena is assigned getaway car duties.
Caroline is out driving to her dad's boyfriend's daughter's second cousin's co-worker's son's bar mitzvah
in THE STORM, so obviously, she's about to get stranded. She does, and even though she was just
talking to Matt on her cell phone, it no longer has a signal.
Operation Rescue Stefan is a GO!
Teach goes to Vamp-House & pretends to need to use their phone because he's stranded due to THE STORM.
Damon is waiting at the back door, and House-Human still won't invite him in,
so Teach shoves her out & Damon snaps her neck.
Back in the getaway car, Elena is waiting. Nervously.
Over at the Grill...
Pearl talks property with the Mayor. Her excessive knowledge of his family's holdings isn't odd at all...
Jeremy & Anna text & make eyes at each other from across the room. They're so ~secret~ that no one
can see them smiling at each other from ten feet apart, especially not a vampire with super heightened senses.
Just before she leaves, Anna texts Jeremy one last time saying she'll turn him. WTF?!
Back to Operation Rescue Stefan:
Elena thinks she's Buffy & decides to go into Vamp-House to help with the rescue.
She looks sort of rained-on-sexy while she does it, so it works.
Caroline gets out of her car and walks out into THE STORM to try to get a signal on her phone,
and ends up sliding down a river bank & holding the hand of a dead body, instead. Gross.
Pearl figures out the boy Anna has been hanging with is Jeremy GILBERT and blames him for locking
her in the tomb, by bloodline alone. Anna tells her he knows about her vampy-ness & likes her anyway.
Pearl wishes she still owned property so she could write Anna out of her will.
Stefan thanks Sweet-Harper for trying to help him. He should move into the Salvatore's house
& be roommates with the brothers. The most important part of this photo is Stefan's back. LOOK AT IT.
Elena & Damon make it to Stefan at about the same time. Elena is tasked with walk-dragging
him out to the getaway car that she was supposed to be manning. Damon runs off to cause a
distraction so they can get away. Elena falls and cuts her wrist.
Blood! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUN.
Damon takes out a bunch of vampires, but gets overwhelmed. Just before things get bad, Teach saves him.
Fredrick-the-Evil escapes, so Damon runs off to try to find him. Teach stays in the house with his Vervain Gun.
Elena gets Stefan to the car, but it's been disabled. OH NOES. Mean ole Freddie is there & fully
kicks Stefan's ass. Stefan is still injured from the torture earlier, so he's pretty useless.
Elena stakes Fredrick just before he kills Stefan, so he's out of the fight for a bit.
Stefan looks all DEAD EYES, so she feeds him her blood. Certain shots make it look like
they're having some sort of angry, painful sex... in a good way.

Anyway.
Teach gets bit, but survives
Damon comes back & they realize the house is being slowly approached, all creepy like, by a bunch of vampires.
Matt's mom made mystery casserole & they have a little ~moment~ just before Caroline & her mom
show up to totally ruin it by informing them that the dead hand Caroline was holding earlier belongs to Vicki.
Pearl arrives home & notices all of the DEADpires littering the floor of her Vamp-House, but remains calm.
Damon & Teach, the ultimate crime fighting duo, are generally too awesome to mess with.
Damon issues a snazzy one-liner & makes an exit, as usual. Dude is smoooooooth.
Fredrick wakes up from his Elena-staking, but Stefan has human blood in him now, and HE IS VICIOUS.
He's even all evil-growly at Elena. Then, super guilty & remorseful.
See! Shock! Gasp! Stefan feels bad.
Matt is in Vicki's room feeling sad and tells Caroline he wants to be alone. When Elena arrives,
he hugs her, instead. Caroline is his silver medal & she stands awkwardly off to the side.
Teach & Damon are having a post-rescue drink. Damon declares their crime-fighting-duo is
“bad ass” but Teach punches him, instead of agreeing.
Jeremy gets home from Vicki's house & runs up to his room to tear up his vampire research now that she's dead. Looks like his obsession with being turned was all for her, and not Anna, after all. Anna realizes it & runs off.
Damon finds Stefan pouting in the Library with human blood smeared on his face.
