Senior Week

Wow...what a fun week. Me, Kelly, Monica, Liz, Sonja, and Carmen in one lovely beach house a stone's throw away from the ocean. No joke. I'm having a hard time remembering everything, but it will do my best. We arrived last Saturday around 2:30 and loaded our crap into the house before going down to the ocean...we just walked around and took pictures...then walked the mile-long boardwalk with all of its cure souvenir shops. Dinner that night was at Grotto Pizza (one of the three...they WAY overpopulate Rehoboth, but they have awesome pizza). Grocery shopping!! Then home to the first of a long series of vicious and high-stakes poker games.

Sunday brought our first beach visit. We had awesome weather ALL week...sunny and around eighty degrees. So we went to the beach and apparently I'm the only one that doesn't enjoy diving under the ocean waves (bad experience years ago put an end to this)...Liz and Sonja were on a mission to persuade me to go out further, but when they tried, I simply got knocked down. Needless to say, that ended that. After everyone came home and showered (it takes six girls a while to shower when there are only two bathrooms) we watched When Harry Met Sally, one of my favorite movies...sooo funny. Then shopping on the strip and dinner at Dos Locos (yes, Mexican, which I typically don't like, but this quesadilla was really good). Back home watch Rounders, another favorite.

Monday brought more beach and more shopping, plus Cracker Barrel for lunch. OMG best meal of the trip--lemon pepper trout, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, corn, and biscuits. I don't care if it was on the low-carb menu!! It was good!! Dinner that night was eye ribs...courtesy of Monica's mom, who sent them. They were sooo good...Carmen pigged out later during Caddyshack, a Kelly flick...which I left about half an hour in because I was exhausted...and bored. Sorry Kellers, I love you...but I didn't love that movie.

Tuesday meant more beach fun and such...I sunbathed with Liz and read Crime and Punishment (this guy takes nearly a hundred pages to commit murder...geez). Breakfast was at Sammy's, a very cute and yummy breakfast place. After the beach, we returned home and after lengthy showers watched Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, which I LOVED!! hahaha Monica--latino lover!!! hahaha...more poker and eye ribs for dinner again which made for an interesting cooking experience...plus Thrasher's...then MORE poker...I know no one wants to believe that we played for hours on end...but we did. Then we watched Dogma, in which Matt Damon gets killed by Ben Affleck. Needless to say, this film will never be viewed again.

Wednesday meant more shopping and beach, yet we never got tired of it...dinner at the Ram's Head Tavern, which was nice. Finally visited Funland...I know the boardwalk amusement park is not thrilling, but it was worth seeing. Yay for the bumber cars and haunted mansion, the only two rides I actually went on. It was enjoyable watching liz come out of the haunted mansion with NO expression whatsoever on her face...especially after Kelly and I jumped at everything that popped out at us...hahaha. Then back home for Phonebooth...Liz, this was a bad choice. Intriguing, but bad. Intriguingly bad.

Thursday brought beach (of course) and poker (of course), including an all-out match up between me, Carmen, Monica, and Liz. Monica got wiped out first, then me (though it took them a while to kill me even though I only had five chips). Liz and Carmen are still playing this game, even now. No winner has been determined. Had lunch at a cute sandwich place where I had a Philly cheesteak (which would not have been up to Daddy's standards because the cheese and bread were wrong). Then mini-golf--lots of fun. Carmen won, even though Liz got two holes in one, I got one, and so did Kelly. Dinner was at Coldstone (yes, ice cream--chocolate with brownies mixed in to be precise) then Bruce Almighty followed that night.

Friday was our non-beach day, because it was a bit too cool for the water. So we did last minute shopping on the strip (including painting at a ceramic place--I plainted a pretty box that says "I love you" in Hebrew), had sandwiches and macaroni and cheese for dinner, then headed out to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith...movie of the year, hands down...sooo good. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie rocked. We returned home to digest whatever remained in the fridge, and Carmen and Liz had it out on the poker table...til 5 AM. Then Saturday we packed up, cleaned the house, had breakfast at Sammy's again, picked up our fired ceramic objects, and headed home. I'm sure I missed a ton, got a few movies out of order or something, but I did my best.

Kara's dance concert was tonite, too. Someone explain to me why parents pay gobs of money to watch their three-year-old stand onstage, utterly clueless (in an $80 costume, nonetheless), for a minute and a half. One of the world's unsolved mysteries.

I also decided I should start using the "music" and "mood" stuff...it's here for a reason, I suppose.
