[This is the first time he's heard Mille's voice mail, so give him a second to make a face at the 'all the hugs you want" comment. But then Cain appears to remember he is being recorded, and his expression smoothes out, chin lifted. The careless hair is still somewhat in his eyes, but no matter]

I never got the chance to properly thank you. I don't even know if there is a 'proper' way to go about it; certainly not anything that can remotely compare to the service you rendered. You... gave your life to spare mine. [Blinks. He's trying to pretend this is normal, not strange at all. He's learning to accept, really]

I will not forget it. [Brief pause. Cain's at a loss for what else he should say, so he nods curtly at the screen before he leans in and the feed ends]

These flowers made me think of you. I don't have any gift for gardening, so I wanted to make sure you received them while they were still healthy and in bloom. Since thank you is redundant, and I still haven't properly expressed my gratitude, please accept this small token.

I'm delivering these a day early. I don't know how they'll keep overnight.
