Recipe: Yam and Apple Casserole

Serves: 15
Cook's Notes: This is standard fare at our Thanksgiving dinners, though it's morphed considerably over the years, and is quite adaptable. I'll try to list some of the options here, too.

I don't use my crockpot anywhere near as often as I should. This was a really good recipe for it, though -- everyone loved it!

Yum! When I make this, I add dried cranberries to the apple layer. It completes the thanksgiving-sweet-sidedish flavor circuit for me

What a good idea. I'll have to try it with some dried cranberries next time!

You could easily make a smaller amount in a smaller crock. It's deeee-licious! :D

This looks amazing.

I've been trying to find recipes that incorporate sweet potatoes. My family doesn't really like them except at Thanksgiving when they are buried under marshmallows. With the apples in it for sweetness, it may work for us - and not just for a holiday.

Yams are so easy to bake, and so good for you, too. This recipe is sweet, but not too sweet, and it's certainly adaptable to suit your family's tastes.
