2011 Thus Far:
First Week- Back from Christmas break, working for Greenpeace. Realise I really can't handle this job and decide to move back to Canada. Wednesday Karl offers me a temp job for two weeks in Toulouse, France. Thursday I let Greenpeace know that I am leaving and work my last shift on the Friday and book my flight home on Saturday.

Second Week-Working for Karl in Toulouse. The job that was supposed to take two weeks takes two and a half days. We get a day just to wander around the city and see something other than the office, airport and hotel. Realise I hate hotels, that I am glad I decided to go back to Canada, as this job is not the way I want to travel. I want to see the world on my own terms. My co-workers while I was there are pretty rad, though.

Third Week- Head up North to see the family. Catch a £9 train (that I caught by the skin of my teeth) and book myself into a hostel. Get completely lost a few times, but feel great to be out of the South. Only stay one night at the hostel before moving into my Nanna's. Lots of tea, long chats with my Aunt Maz, scones were made, cake was made and my Nanna's 87th birthday was celebrated. I also met uncles I had not met since I was 2. Met the Liverpool side of the family (so many of them! people my own age!) and promise that I will visit again soon.

Fourth Week- Half of this week was spent up North, the other half was getting things ready to leave and spending time with my aunt and cousin.

Fifth Week- London with Matt. Walk about 10km a day, see tons! Meet awesome sandwich people, hook up with an American aspiring writer, and manage not to snap at an anxiety-stricken Matt.

Sixth Week- Brighton with Matt. Loud, rather obnoxious hostel that lied about having a kitchen. Not all that bad, though. Bitter Ruin show (ah-mazing!), first sunny day in what felt like months spent by the seaside eating chips and taking afternoon tea. Matt leaves for Paris, I pack like a mad woman, experience serious doubts about going back and make my tearful farewell. (Oh, and I flew club class- they didn't charge me for my excessive excess baggage)

Seventh Week- 5 apartment/room viewings. Skiing, play at the NAC, karaoke, lots of hugs, and 31 hours of work. Find and apply for the apartment of my dreams. Have a tentative roommate and then a (different) for sure roommate.

Eighth Week- Christian rave with a friends, one of whom also happens to be an ex's brother. Anxiously wait for news on the dream apartment. Find out we got the dream apartment. Catch up with an old friend who is a two-time cancer survivor, karaoke-and-impromptu-sleepover, furniture hunting, pay first months rent like a grown-up (even if it was out of my overdraft). Also work 40 hours (double what I was scheduled)

This Week Signed the lease today (in a snowstorm). Move in tomorrow. Housewarming on Sunday. Lots more running like a chicken with its head cut off.
AH!
