*smiles in recollection*
¿TIENEN LAS GANAS? Ooooh, pre-cal...thank God that's over foreeeveeer.
I haven't updated in so long I can't even remember what I'm supposed to be including in this post. Hmmm...I'll just do the past week.
So last Saturday I finally finally got around to getting my permit!!!!! It took me nearly a year but I finally did it. And then was told by my mom that I was absolutely positively forbidden to drive her car ever. Even in a straight line down my street (where no one drives) at 10 mph. *sigh* And I have to take driver's ed during senior year which will suck. Ah well.
That night went over to Amy's house for a Park Camp reunion party which was super fun. I was really surprised at how comfortable I was around all of them even though we haven't talked in over a year. Which is really hard to believe but there you are.
Sunday I spent SEVEN HOURS with the other NHS officers-minus-Meghan working on transfer student party plans. But our invitations are insanely cute and we have the most fabulous gift bags ever so if any transfer students are randomly reading this...COOOMMEEE.
I just have to quickly digress and say that Ricky Martin's Vuelve CD is fantabulous. Because it's in Spanish. lol. I mean, it all kind of sounds like bubblegum pop music but the fact that it's in another language adds this level of interest. I mean not only are the songs totally hummable/danceable...but you can also exercise your brain trying to figure out what he's singing about! :D
Okay, so on to the week at Roswell. Hmm...let me see...nothing really happened on Monday or Tuesday. Oh wait, on Monday I got to leave early because Adrienne was sick and I ran into Isa, this guy from Indiana on the subway and we had a nice little talk about Buffalo vs. Indiana and colleges and stuff. It was cool. Tuesday...met with my fellow Number Two's to discuss our video project. Got nothing done but whatever. Wednesday...TWO HOUR MEETING. I had to present on the Generation of Dendritic Cells from Mouse Bone Marrow and that apparently was really good? I don't know, I wasn't too happy with it.
Thursday was both bad and good. I spent a good part of the day being stressed out over the non-skit I had to to do about cervical cancer in class as well as over the video my group had to film about colon cancer that evening. So you know how I get really really worked up when I'm stressed? I tried not to do that because I didn't want to freak anyone out but even so, Melissa still said that I seemed really stressed. Luckily, we didn't get in trouble for not having a skit about cervical cancer and the teacher guy was happy that I brought up the fact that even protected sex can transmit the HPV virus so that was good. And then I shot down Nick which was also good. It was during the lecture on cancer prevention and the speaker asked us what type of alcohol was in alcoholic beverages. And I said ethanol, but kind of quietly so only the people around me heard. Nick heard me and laughed derisively. But then the speaker clicked the mouse and up came the word ETHANOL and vindication was mine!!! lol.
An hour after the class ended Stephanie drove all of us down to my house where we filmed our fantabulous skit on colon cancer. It was really fun even if I didn't have (and still don't have) A/C so we were all dying of heat. Eric's a 53 year old Ashkenazi Jew who smokes and drinks heavily and lives a sedentary lifestyle while consuming fatty foods (all risk factors for colon cancer) and we were all just random people. We better win for best video. I mean, we have an interrogation scene, a bathroom scene, a car scene (where Nick hung out the window of Steph's moving car, shouting at Eric to run faster and I hung out the sun roof and taped the whole thing), a scene at the park, a scene at Roswell. I mean, this was intense. Just thinking about the stuff we did makes me laugh...Steph and me mourning Eric's death from colon cancer and Dr. Repasky coming out laughing hysterically and saying "you should've seen the looks on people's faces in the lab"...lmaooo.
So today I finally slept in but I'm still really tired. Hm. Watched this thing on TV called High School High Q or something--it's this quiz show where they bring in local high school teams. I felt pretty smart because I knew most of the answers. Played some piano, came to Pitt, called people, went to the library, was the oldest non-adult in the children's section while I searched for Goblet of Fire on CD...embarrassing. So now I'm putting off the point when I have to finish up my abstract that is going to suck and not be extensive enough or something and I just plain don't want to do it but I guess I should because it, along with THREE other things is due on Thursday and if I do it now I won't be as stressed. Meh.
The Color Purple was so good. The ending made me so happy...and the entire book just made me think. Really fabulous. I recommend it.
