I am sitting here writing at the venture drive compound aka the lab. I’m waiting for Matt to finish up his experiments. For those of you who had the tour, you know how large and how creepy this can be. Plus I don’t have the light on in the room so I can see the snow flakes falling outside! Hopefully writing this entry will get my mind off of how creepy this place is.
This weekend, like so many previous was wonderful.
On Friday we went to happy hour in downtown Ann Arbor. YAY to $2 pints of Sam Adams, Stella, and Bell’s, Guinness, and name your favorite beer. After becoming semi-drunk, we roamed the streets and went into Borders. Two interesting things happened there. First, we saw someone walk into a dog in borders. Now I know what you’re thinking. Who brings a dog to borders? Well in Ann Arbor dogs are pretty much brought everywhere, so after a tense moment both parties apologized and nothing else happened.
Second, I found a pink fuzzy Jesus piggy bank!! Matt would not let me get it, but maybe if its still there Friday I might. I might even go back before then and get it..How can I say no to the pink fuzzy son of God???!!!
On Saturday we went to the Detroit Institute of Art to see the modern master’s exhibit
http://www.dia.org/monet/ with Karen .When we got there it was packed. It was nice to f see a museum packed full of people wanting to culture themselves. However, I normally loathe going when it is so packed because every person who ever saw a PBS special or took a senior elective in art history turns into an authority on art. Fortunately, we did not run into any of those people while there, so it was sublime. I really got to recconect with special artist feelings. The paintings speak to me. I bought a print of a Picasso from his blue period. I enjoy that time in his life the best.
Then after taking Karen back to the lab, Matt took me out for Mexican food and we went to Whole Foods. It’s the new one that just opened…I know..Why are there more than one??? The store was huge and even had a wine bar. Because Whole Foods translate to whole paycheck, we just wandered around and left with a single beer.
As for today, Matt took me to the lab to do some work. I have managed to get him to take one day a week off, but every time I say two days he rants about the cures of tomorrow are discovered in labs today. Plus, while he was running his gel we got to see Burn After Reading. It was hilarious. Well, I’m off to see how the experiment is going.
