I'm on a Patriotic High

I'm soo sleepy right now, of course I was up like the rest of the country awaiting the election results. The one thing that's making me very uneasy this morning, is the fact that I've heard a few of our white guests saying that Barack Obama won because black people finally deciding to vote. I agree that so many more African American people were more conscience of exercising their right to vote, but it is their RIGHT. However, it is common sense, that African American people are still in the minority in this country, so even if EVERY single black person in the US voted for him, he still couldn't have won the election based on that alone. And maybe just maybe, he needed THOSE votes to counter all of the people who didn't vote for him, because he is black. Interestingly enough, I'm not gonna let negative people ruin my high. I celebrate because he's African American and my party's candidate. This is the first time since I've been of legal age to vote that my candidate for president has actually won the election. I'm thrilled. Yet I don't remember being this sore of a loser when the republicans won the last presidential that I voted in. Hmm...

Anyways, my prayers are with President Elect Obama and his family. He's just lost his grandmother and I'm sure that just makes the victory just that much more bittersweet.
