Interesting point

So, I had this question, and I felt stupid for asking it, but I really wanted to know, so I asked. Anyways, so the question was, if Jesus was sin in God's eyes even though He was sinless, why did He not stay in hell for the price He paid? For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23 came to mind. So, I went to my pastor with this question, thinking that I would get a better answer than "because He was sinless", because I didn't think that that was the real answer, it didn't fit. So my pastor took me back to the 7 plagues of Egypt. The last plague was death of the first born and Jesus was the first born there was a correlation there, but i didn't understand that part. Anyways, the passover was where they put the blood over their doorways to have the plague passover their houses. The day of atonement was in remembrance of that day. On the day of atonement the high priest would go into the holy of holies to make atonement for the sins of Israel. If there was either something wrong with the animals or something wrong with the high priest, then he was struck dead, and the sins of Israel were not forgiven for the entire year to follow. So, since Jesus was the high priest, the sacrifice and a king, he had to be sinless to be the perfect sacrifice. So He was crucified
and the whole reason that He came back was to show that God had accepted the sacrifice, since the high priest would come out of the holy of holies unscathed if the sacrifice was accepted. It was to prove to everyone that their sins were paid for. Isn't that awesome? It makes so much more sense to me now.

K, thanks for listening.
