I posted this in myspace yesterday and felt it was worth posting again.
I'm going to post about our most recent trip to Vegas. It was incredible. Love was amazing. But I'll post about that later when I can post pics of the exterior of Love.
Right now I'm going to post about my love of The Beatles. I remember singing along to the Fab Four when I was in the car as child with no clue that the songs had been written when my mother was a child. Of course later on when I got older I did not like The Beatles. They weren't new. However I really liked "Got My Mind Set on You" by George Harrison and I used to belt that out in the car. By the time I was in my teens I realized that they were simply the best band ever. The closest thing we have to them right now is U2.
Of course I watched the Beatles Anthology when it was on in 1996. I remember spazzing out on the new tunes "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love". Hell, all of my friends were spazzing out. I had Anthology 2 on my Christmas list. I didn't get it sadly I got a leather jacket instead. In the end Anthology 2 would have been a much better purchase for me since the jacket has long since gone out of fashion and I don't wear it anymore.
Skip three and a half years into the future. While driving in metro Atlanta with Emily in the back seat, I turn the radio to Fox 97. It was an oldies station that played a lot of Beatles and Stones and Motown like all oldies stations. "She Loves You" comes on and as soon as the song goes into "yeah, yeah, yeah" the infant sings "yeah, yeah, yeah" to the beat. I am not making this up. At the time Emily only said "Dada" and "No". What else could I do? I sang along, of course.
Skip to eight years later and I sat grinning, singing and cheering like a loon in a theater in the Mirage savoring every minute. Btw, we were sitting in the George section, who as it turns out is my favorite Beatle. He's my favorite since he's usually the one no one can remember. He was also the finest guitarist of the group and over all one of the top twenty guitarists of all time. John is a close second since he was the genius and I love men in glasses. Paul and Ringo tie for third. Why? Ringo is just so damn likable and he goes by Ringo and if that didn't mean putting Paul last, Ringo would be third. As for Paul, a devoted Veggie and crazily enough still tours. In fact Trevor and I had tickets to see him, but we were buying them for his mom and dad so we had to give them to her which was only right since Paul is her favorite and she actually bought the tickets. It was a really great concert; he sang a lot of Beatles tunes. I'm glad she went.
Yes, over the years the Beatles have meant a lot to Trevor and me.
