Who Gives a Flying Fuck About Tulane University?!

I find all of this very interesting. Since the events in New Orleans, where I have family, I haven't seen many folks talking about it- or even mentioning it. This is a major, devastating event- and no one seems to give a shit. The funny thing is, I'm not surprised. Most of the people who were fucked by what's going on are poor... no one cares about poor people. That's the American way. I saw video of the looting... and Miles made a comment that all they were showing were black people. Yea. Most of the white people had the money and resources to flee. Then you have all the other people- desperate... no money, no transportation, no water, no food, no home. It's horrible. First you have to survive a horrible hurricane, and then you have to survive in the scorching heat, on the street or inside the Superdome, with little to no resources and no way out- no lines of communication, and little to no medical attention. I saw a lot of dying and dead elderly people and babies. And, I turn on the Today show this morning and I see them covering the freshmen students of Tulane University who just got to school, and had to turn around and go home. Will their semester ber canceled? Did the furniture in their dorm room get damaged? Did they lose three year's worth of art projects? Are the seniors going to be able to graduate? I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK! How the fuck is that something that has priority on the news list when over a quarter-of-a-million people are homeless, and people are dead and dying?! There are homes that are flooded up to the hilt, with people still inside! Rescue helicopters are so overwhelmed that they are dropping paint balls on houses- red or black- to remind themselves which homes have injured within and which have dead bodies within! And, you're telling me about some fucking priviledged college students who had to go home?! Most people would love to have a home to go home to! This is bullshit. Sure, their experiences are valid, but it's just not news at this point in the story!
