today has been awesome. mom and i went to see
Thaïs today -- it was broadcast live in HD from the met (opera house in NY) to select movie theaters and it was fantastic. it's an opera you don't see staged much because the lead male baritone role is very demanding, and the lead female soprano role was written way back when for a specific singer, so it's therefore nearly impossible for most other sopranos to perform well. however renee fleming has the range and the looks, and she was brilliant.
after that we met danny at the mall for lunch, then he went back to work and mom and i crammed a few hours of shopping into 45 minutes. i found that one last perfect present, got my yearly allotment of see's candy, and helped mom pick out presents for danny. now i'm back home, and i really should be cleaning, but first i really need to do my WoW dailies, and then there's that certain book that's calling to me...
christmas is coming together in a haphazard way, but i'm (overall) ok with that. the majority of my presents are wrapped (still waiting on a few more shipments) and i'm feeling good about christmas dinner (despite the fact that the main course is arriving awfully close to the deadline -- think happy thoughts for me for early delivery on that one!), and i'm doing my best to hope and pray for no construction on the 24th next door. it's funny how thanksgiving came together so neatly, and yet christmas is sort of depending on a lot of details that are out of my control... but no matter, and no sense worrying. either way it'll be a great holiday.
i need to get clear on what i want to accomplish today.
1. wrap presents
2. decorate christmas tree
3. clean kitchen to point of usefulness
4. do WoW dailies
5. relax
i think i shall do my dailies, wrap the presents, work on the kitchen a bit, then read until danny gets home, at which point the tree can be decorated. seems like a good plan.
