marin county is mostly democratic, and a lot of those democrats are the bad kind. the kind that are elitist, outspoken and downright rude to people who don't share their views. it makes me sad when people belonging to any political party lose empathy and willingness to consider others' points of view.

that being said, there's an interesting article here about how marin county republicans are a "minority group" in both their vote and their beliefs. some like my mom are proud of who they are and what they believe; but a lot of her social counterparts hide their political identities.

you might even say they're hiding in the closet.

i personally feel ill when i read these republicans recount their stories. where is their empathy for people who have lived their entire lives in fear of discrimination? i don't care if it's over socio-political opinion or the person you kiss goodnight, if you feel pressured to hide who you are in society, you should feel something and try to understand the other people who are in the exact same situation.

i hate that we are divided by our similarities. the human race can be retarded.

but, it can also be brilliant. and as always, vote according to your beliefs, and according to your best judgement. no one should ever pressure you into not speaking your mind. it's just awfully fucking nice if you have respect and empathy for people who believe differently than you, rather than cubbyhole yourself and pretend the world is out to get you just because you don't bash mccain for fun. other people with far larger fears have to hide who they are every day. QQ.

/rant off.

please vote tomorrow. whatever you believe, express yourself. voting truly is a privilege and many, many people have suffered to earn the ability.

love kittie

voting, rant, politics
