ranny's office is upstairs. i think of it as the spa because it is an airy, always sunny room with high ceilings, and most everything is white, except for bright colorful objects here and there. it's always warm and breezy thanks to the many windows that overlook the lagoon and a lot of sky. it's a peaceful place, very zen and modern and full of possibility.
lou's office is downstairs. it's a library in the best sense of the word -- a narrow, dark room with only two vertical windows that overlook a bamboo-lined walkway. there are muted lights recessed in the ceiling that illuminate four walls covered top to bottom in books on every subject you can imagine. he also has antiques, models of ships and some weaponry, and a few pieces of hardwood furniture older than my grandparents. it's also a peaceful place, very calm and timeless, and full of stability.
i like working in the spa, but i belong in the library.
