This has been the best weekend of my life and I could not have spent it with a more loving person.
Here's the rundown of what happened:
Saturday:
We woke up at about 7:30am to finished getting the bag packed and took a cab to the commuter lot and got on the Megabus headed to downtown Chicago. We took a leisurely stroll through the streets on our way to the Chicago Hilton Hotel. After checking in at about 1pm, we walked down Michigan Ave and took pictures at the Bean (big shiny thing thats shaped like a bean), walked to the fountain and watched some little kids play and then took a cab to the Hancock tower. After seeing 4 different states from the top of the building, we took our decent and headed back to the hotel to get ready for our night out on the town.
We ate at Morton's Steak House (bill ran me $135 *choke*). When we arrived, the manager took us to our table and pulled out the table so we could sit in the booth. Our waiter came up with a tray of all their meat cuts, a slab of tuna and salmon and went over the entire menu. Once he handed us our menus, I noticed a personalized message at the top that read, "Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Oquist!". I almost died laughing. So we ordered and the wait staff were very attentive. At one point, the manager approached with a camera, took our picture and about five minutes later came back with a card signed by everyone with "Happy Anniversary!" at the top. For desert we had the most amazing lava cake (which they gave to us for free) and then we headed to the Oriental theater to see Wicked.
The play was absolutely amazing. Glinda was hysterical and I loved what they did with the characters. It was pretty different from what I saw on Broadway in New York a couple years ago, but the show was still incredible. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel, had a little wine we brought with us and went to bed.
Sunday:
We woke up at about 8am to go to the gym and have a little workout then went back to the room and packed up. We headed out to the Navy Pier, went on the ferris wheel, played Mini golf and took lottsss of pictures. Aaand then headed to the Shed Aquarium, saw dolphins, penguins, otters, lots of fishies, lizards, a huge Komado dragon and took way more pictures. Then to the hotel we went to get our bag and run to the bus station where the bus was an hour late. So now I'm back at mark's place getting ready for some snuggle time before we both pass out from exhaustion.
Phew!
chicago!
