"ATTENTION: Please read, JackDav film petition"

Nov 07, 2007 08:46

There's something elessil has to say. And I guess it's a good thing. I guess I will write a letter, too, it supports Mr Jack Davenport... So, if you please just take some time and read what she suggests:

The last few days, I have once again been on a roll trying to organise some rare Jack Davenport films. Some of you I have already pestered, and now, this is a request to all of you reading here.

I contacted the BBC about the TV film "Asylum" from 2001 (http://imdb.com/title/tt0448200/), asking if there was any possibility to obtain a copy. They said that they cannot make me an archive copy, but that I could urge for a release, and gave me an address where I could request such a public release. However, "there must be adequate public interest before a release can be arranged."

I am now asking you to help me show this adequate public interest. I am going to send a letter to the BBC, and I would ask everyone who is interested in the film to send a letter as well. You do NOT have to agree to buy the DVD or anything, just show the potential interest. If you would buy it, however, tell them that. (*coughcough There totally will be tons of screencaps and captions if I get it)

Dear Sirs,

I was informed by your Customer Service that your department handles the release of BBC produced films, and that suggestions could be made for further releases, which would be considered if there was adequate public interest. I am very interested in a DVD release of the film "Asylum", produced by the BBC Fictionlab in 2001, and would definitely purchase the DVD if it were to be released. I also believe that the rising interest in the actor Jack Davenport will give the film a fairly sized target group.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Susanne H.

I have considered to make this a petition - get people to "sign" it, but talking it through, it does become apparent that basically anonymous "online signatures" mean nothing. If you think it a good idea, I WILL add them to my letter, but if you have any interest at all, I would beg you to write your own. If you want, I will pay for the postage ;)

"I have learned that the BBC film Asylum (2001) could potentially be released on DVD, if there is sufficient public interest. I am very interested, and would buy this DVD if it becomes available.
Thank you!, sincerely, etc."

The address to send to is:

I do not know the likelihood of an actual release, but I do believe there is no harm in trying, and it also supports the good Mr. Davenport if more of his films become available.

Either way, thank you for the support, and if you want to repost this to where it receives more attention, or ask people you know, by all means, do.
