what a long day.
i woke up around 7:30 which i think is a completely inappropriate time to wake up during vacation.. i actually felt like i betrayed the christmas break gods. but anyways...
my dad and i took the 8:49 train into new york city.. where we walked for about forty minutes to get to the israeli consulate. i had to get my passport renewed and handle my military status which is basically filling out forms and getting a paper that says i won't be joining the army. wouldn't that be weird if i did join? like if i still lived there.. instead of sitting at the dmv on my birthday i'd be getting ready to go to the army?
freaky.
so yeah.. we go inside.
"shalom"
"...hey"
it's great how they ask you if you're carrying any weapons or "to self defense" and when you say no they just let you go. but then you have to go through a metal detector so yeah. i had to take my belt off and my pants completely fell off. just kidding.. but i did have to take off my belt.
so we go in.. wait for in line for a smidge. TURNS OUT. we had all the right shizz for the extending of my passport but we didn't bring my mom's passport (just my dad's) and both of my rents' US passports.. which is like WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE MILITARY THING. thanks for letting us know.. my dad called the place and he brought what they said he needed.. and yeah. great.
so we weren't in a great mood. the universe hates me, i swear.
so we left.. and walked around. we were all gloomy and sad, because we came to the city and it didn't work out so boo hiss.
BUT THAT WASN'T GOING TO DAMPEN OUR DAY! padre took me to Bloomberg, where he works.. it was actually fabulous. the building is so cool because everything is glass EVERYTHING IS GLASS so there's zero privacy. but there are pretty fishtanks. so i went around to look at the place where they filmed the bloomberg channel and had their radio station. and we visited the kitchen where everything was free so i enjoyed a lovely cherry coke.
i had my own badge and picture and everything but i had to give it back when we left =(
after that we walked to central park and walked around for a while.. tourists from various countries were there.. my dad and i had fun spotting the russians. it was like bird watching, but with russians.
i love cute german boys. international weekend - i yearn for you.
i love central park. although the air isn't exactly the freshest of the fresh fresh, it's nice and pretty. there were seventy horse carriages around and everywhere you stepped there was poo. the horses looked really sad and old =(
when we couldn't feel our faces anymore and our legs were about to fall off, dad and i went to eat lunch at an italian place called Trattoria Dell Arte.. i THINK. something along those lines. i had a nice chicken parm. it was some guy's birthday on the first floor and his family hired a marilyn monroe look and sing-a-like to sing for him.. it was cute.
after lunch we began our walk back to penn station and walked through times square. in. sane.
we were early for our train so we got some coffee at the borders next to penn station.. it was called seattle's best and probably the greatest caramel mocha i've ever consumed.
aaaaaaand then we took the train home. i like trains. i'd never been in one before. new modes of transportation for marina. next up: bull.
so i'm missing school on thursday to go freaking back there and sort things out.. but i'll be back in time for lab. stupid bio.
is everyone feeling restless? or is it just me..
and it's not the in the oh i can't sit still kind of restless. ever seen the sex and the city episode where carrie's feeling restless?
it's that kind of restless.
it's times like this when i really miss you.. and every song you gave me fits my thoughts perfectly.
should i call you?
blargh.
this has been a long entry.. later.
