[When the video turns on, it shows Seto sitting on the couch in his apartment, surrounded by dirty, old looking items.  Most of them are books and others could just be considered junk; shoes, an empty glass milk and soda bottle, letters,  a deflated balloon, a tin can, etc.

But the one in his hand some may recognize to be a cellphone, an ( Read more... )

Seto..?

[ Unaware of the circumstances in Seto's native world, Firo can't figure out what's going on. But even he's not dense enough to miss that something's wrong. Seto's a nice kid; he's found out that much, and so Firo doesn't want to leave him alone when he's that upset. ]

Hold on a second, I'm comin' over.

'Kay...

[That's all Seto's going to say, his door is unlocked so he doesn't have to worry about getting up. So he pulls his knees closer to his chest, just burying his face in them]

[ And a few ticks of the clock later Firo's barging right in, without even knocking. This is no time for courtesy. He strides in quickly and drops to the ground next to Seto. ]

H-hey.

[ Perhaps his haste wasn't such a good idea; he doesn't know what to say yet. Instead he hesitantly drapes an arm over Seto's shoulders. ]

[Not that Seto minds, he's too busy just sulking. Well deep in thought is a better word but it's part sulking too. His head stays down, even when Firo puts an arm around his shoulders, though he does start trembling.

Why did it have to happen to all of them?? It's not fair! They knew they were going to die and yet--yet they didn't do anything to stop it...]

[ The shaking has him concerned even further. He gives Seto a little squeeze that's meant to be comforting. ]

Seto... Who's this about? Who was that person on the phone?

[ He really hopes that it wasn't someone in Seto's family. He doesn't think about it much, but he can remember how bad that feels, especially when you're a kid. ]

A-A girl who died...it was her final memory that is connected to this phone...

[Is it a phone? Seto has no idea but if Firo called it that then he will too. But he glances at the phone that's beside him on the couch, the girl's face still stuck in his head]

Connected..?

[ He tries to figure out how that could've happened. A few moments later he shakes his head as if to clear away those thoughts. Knowing how it happened isn't going to help Seto. ]

Is she somebody you knew?

No....She died with everyone else...long before I found this thing..

[He places his hand down on top of it, running his fingers over the cracked screen, smearing some of the dirt on it]

And who's "everyone else"..? How'd you know about these people?

[ He's trying to figure out why Seto would care about someone he never knew deeply enough to be this upset. ]

Through their memories...

[That's the only way he knew about anyone in his world]

[ That makes him pause. Could Seto have gotten someone's memories the same way he got Szilard's? Probably not, far more likely he's just referring to the message on the phone. ]

How? Did they all make recordin's like this?

No...

[In fact that's the only one where other people can hear it. Seto finally unfolds himself and leans forward towards the coffee table, grabbing a dirty, old looking woman's shoe. It looks brown but it really used to be white. He grips it a little and bites his lip as her voice starts to ring through his head]

I can hear a woman's memory...through this...

[ Firo strains his hears for any sort of voice or noise from the object. To him it just seems like a normal, dirty shoe. He's sure that Seto isn't crazy, but now he's really confused about what's going on. It takes him a few moments to finally stammer out a reply. ]

I don't... How do you do that?

[ For the moment Firo's mind is too swirling with turbulence for him to properly prioritize his questions. ]

I just...listen.

[His eyes close as he listens to the mother's dying words, rubbing his thumb against the side of it]

People lock a part of their hearts inside some items, something that may have been really important to them. Or something they died with... and when I pick up those items, I can hear their voices, see their faces... and feel what they feel.

That's...

[ He wants to say that that's ridiculous or crazy, but hasn't Seto given him proof enough already? Firo doesn't believe in the supernatural, but it's clear even to him these objects have some sort of effect on Seto.

Reaching over, Firo tries to gently pry the item from Seto's hands. If these things pain Seto that much he shouldn't be touching them. ]

[Since Seto's grip on it isn't that hard, the shoe will slip out of his hands relatively easily. Once it's out of his grip, he'll bring his hands to his eyes, which are now watering, and try to wipe the tears away.]
